I’m an experienced educator with nearly a decade of teaching in both special and general education settings, working with students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
Throughout my career, my mission has remained the same: to create a welcoming, engaging learning environment where every student feels supported and capable of success.
A large part of my work has focused on supporting struggling readers, especially students with dyslexia. This passion led me to pursue extensive training in the science of reading, including a two-year journey to become a certified Orton-Gillingham instructor. During that time, I completed over 200 hours of practicum teaching and 100 hours of coursework centered on the neurological foundations of how students learn to read.
My classroom experience spans K–2 learning support and intermediate emotional support settings, where I’ve taught through small group instruction, whole group lessons, and co-teaching models. These experiences have shaped my understanding of what truly works in the classroom—and how to adapt instruction with both intention and empathy.
I made the intentional decision to step away from my role as a special education teacher to focus on my well-being and my family. That transition led me to a new and exciting path: creating high-quality, research-based English Language Arts and Social Emotional Learning resources designed to support all learners—especially those who need it most.
Today, through Coffee and Unique Learners, I share practical, engaging, and evidence-based tools to help educators feel confident in their instruction and empowered in their classrooms. My goal is simple: to help teachers reach every learner, because every student deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Outside of creating, I love spending time with my husband, Mike, daughter, Catherine, my mother and our corgi and beagle, along with our extended family and friends. You can often find me cooking a new recipe, exploring local restaurants, watching the Philadelphia Phillies or a new binge worth TV show, or enjoying a great cup of coffee. We love being outdoors—whether it’s riding in our Jeep, tackling home projects, or simply soaking in the little moments. I also have a special love for New England, especially Vermont, which feels like a second home. Our family is actively involved in our church, where we enjoy serving through family ministries, the church board and many missions.
