Coming Back: A New Chapter for Coffee and Unique Learners

After 18 months on maternity leave, I’m finally stepping back into Coffee and Unique Learners—and this return carries more meaning than I could have imagined before this season began.

During this time, I’ve been home caring for my daughter, who was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. This journey has been one of both challenge and profound growth. It has stretched my heart, deepened my patience, and reshaped the way I understand learning, development, and what true support looks like.

Stepping into the role of both mother and advocate has given me a perspective I didn’t have before. I’ve seen firsthand the importance of individualized care, of celebrating small victories, and of meeting a child exactly where they are—without rushing the process. These are the same values that have always guided my work as an educator, but now they feel even more personal and essential.

While I’ve been away from the classroom and resource creation, my passion for supporting unique learners has only grown stronger. I’ve spent time reflecting on the students I’ve taught—especially those who thrive with structured, intentional, and compassionate instruction—and thinking about how I can serve them, and you, even better.

Coming back now, I feel a renewed sense of purpose.

I’m excited to begin creating again—developing new, engaging, and effective resources grounded in the science of reading and social emotional learning designed to support diverse learners. My goal is to create materials that not only build skills, but also honor each learner’s individual path.

I’m also looking forward to sharing more of the real, lived experiences that shape this work—both from my former classrooms and now from home. The successes, the challenges, and the quiet, meaningful moments in between.

This return isn’t about picking up where I left off—it’s about growing into something deeper, more intentional, and more connected than before.

Thank you for being here, for supporting this journey, and for believing in the power of meeting every learner with patience, purpose, and care.

Here’s to a new season for Coffee and Unique Learners—one rooted in resilience, hope, and meaningful learning.

xoxo,

Amanda
